Earlier Texts and Handbooks of Historical Interest

When it comes to planning physical operations, “Richard Muther wrote the book!” No one has written more on industrial facilities planning. Muther’s early works have been widely translated and used throughout the industrial world. Others have freely copied and adapted his methods as their own, and today most texts and handbooks on facilities planning trace significant content – attributed or not -- to Muther’s early works. These books may be available from technical libraries in your area, or from used booksellers. (We suggest www.bookfinder.com).

While the planner’s tools have changed from paper and pencil to software, the fundamental decisions and considerations remain the same. The early works below remain useful and relevant in their presentation of basic issues, choices, and information required.
